Gloucestershire chief executive Tom Richardson says the county will find out next Wednesday whether Hamish Marshall can play for them this season. The England and Wales Cricket Board turned down Marshall's registration because the New Zealander had played in the rebel Indian Cricket League. "We have made representations and those will be heard at their next meeting," Richardson told BBC Radio Bristol. "We'd like him around, the plan is that he's part of a strong batting unit." Former New Zealand test batsman Marshall has turned his back on the international game and wants to play as a domestic player under his Irish passport. | 606: DEBATE |
Richardson says Gloucestershire have tabled the appeal to the ECB and all they can do now is wait. "I wouldn't say I'm confident, I'd say we'll work very hard to get him out on 16 April. "That's our aim, to get him playing for us then. "Over and above that, I don't want to say anything more because I don't want to be conducting our argument in the press and over the radio. "So we'll leave it until the ninth and see what result we get then."
