Gloucestershire captain Jon Lewis has set his team the target of achieving a much-needed return to Division One of the County Championship this season.

The 32-year-old told BBC Radio Bristol: "We haven't played well in the Championship for the past two seasons.

"It's important for us to get up and give ourselves an opportunity to win the County Championship, because you can only win it in the First Division."

Gloucestershire finished third from bottom of Division Two last season.

Lewis says he has adapted his approach to the game since Mark Alleyne parted company with the club.

I want to take a lot of wickets, and me bowling well will assist the team

"My role has changed, to become less of an individual role and become more in charge of the team," he added.

"My ambitions are for the team to do really well. I want to take a lot of wickets, and me bowling well will assist the team.

"But more important for me is that the team succeeds. I want to get promoted in the Championship."
