Kirby signs with Gloucestershire
Steve Kirby
Kirby becomes Gloucestershire's second signing after Kadeer Ali
Gloucestershire have signed pace bowler Steve Kirby after he was released from his contract with Yorkshire last month, reports BBC Radio Bristol.

Kirby took 47 first class wickets in Yorkshire's 2001 Championship winning season, which earned him a place in the England academy squad that winter.

In 2003 he notched 67 wickets and this year, he took 31 Championship scalps.

Kirby is Gloucestershire's second signing after they recruited England A batsman Kadeer Ali from Worcestershire.

Kirby said; "I am absolutely delighted to be joining a club like Gloucestershire whose track record and reputation speaks for itself.

"The club's ambitions to excel in all forms of the game match mine perfectly.

"I am a great believer in actions speaking louder than words and can't wait to get stuck in to what should be an exciting challenge that lies ahead."

Gloucestershire head coach Mark Alleyne added: "Steve Kirby's recent record is very impressive but more importantly, Steve has the character and spirit that would complement our squad perfectly.

"I look forward immensely to working with such a talented and committed cricketer."
