Glamorgan gained a comfortable 88-run victory in their opening game of the season, a friendly at Northants cut from 40 to 20 overs due to bad weather. Gareth Rees top-scored in a strong batting performance with 42 not out as the visitors reached 172-4. Accurate bowling tied down Northants from the outset, summer signing David Brown impressing with two for eight. James Harris took two wickets for seven runs from his four overs, as Northants were restricted to a paltry 84-8. Glamorgan will be without overseas star Mark Cosgrove for the first championship game of the season against Sussex on 9 April.
The batsman is currently playing for South Australia.
