Alex Wharf joined Glamorgan in time for the 2000 season |
Former England all-rounder Alex Wharf has been awarded a benefit by Glamorgan in 2009. The 33-year-old ex-Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire player joined the Welsh county after the 1999 season and made his debut in 2000. Wharf has played more than 300 matches for Glamorgan, including a major part in the Dragons' two one-day title triumphs in 2002 and 2004. He has also played in 13 limited overs internationals for England. Glamorgan chairman Paul Russell said: "The club is delighted to be granting a benefit to Alex next year. "He has been an important member of the Glamorgan side for many seasons and is now one of the important senior players in the dressing room. "It is appropriate that members and supporters wish to recognize Alex's contribution and we wish him a highly successful year."
