Derrick wants semi- and quarter-finals in the C&G |
Glamorgan director of cricket John Derrick has asked for a different format to be considered for the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy. The Welsh county, who have endured a disastrous start to the season, saw their chances of advancing in the tournament ended last week.
They fell to a further defeat against Somerset in Swansea on Sunday.
"It doesn't make sense that there is just a final, we need semis and there's a case for quarters," said Derrick.
"You only have to lose a couple and have others rained off early on and your campaign is all but over.

"That means dead games which are no use to anyone. Hopefully the authorities will realise that there is a need for change next season."
Derrick did see some improvement in his team in the loss at St Helen's.
"There were some good performances against Somerset, but we needed one of the batters to take us home and we ended up 20-odd runs short," said Derrick.
"We're looking for big performances, for someone stepping up and saying 'I'm going to win this game'.
"It's been a hard couple of weeks and obviously the guys are down, but if we can get just one win it will give us a boost.
"I don't think our form is far around the corner, but we need to find it ahead of the Twenty20 and 40-over competitions."
The Welsh county expect to welcome back David Hemp for their Liverpool Victoria County Championship Division Two clash at Derbyshire.
Hemp was forced to miss Sunday's game with a foot injury, having been struck by an inswinging yorker from Andy Caddick on Thursday.
Nicky Peng has been added to the squad after showing fine form for the second XI, while overseas stars James Franklin and Mark Cosgrove will feature.
Glamorgan will be looking to atone for their 28-run defeat by Derbyshire a month ago at Cardiff.
