Phillips took career-best figures against Unicorns
Essex bowler Tim Phillips is encouraged by the start his side have made to this season's CB40.
Essex beat Unicorns by eight wickets in Bury St Edmunds on Sunday to record their third win in four matches.
Phillips, who took five for 28 in the match, told BBC Essex: "We stuck in really well and it was a comfortable run chase in the end.
"We've had three really good run chases in this competition, so it's pleasing for us."
Thanks to Phillips' haul, Unicorns were bowled all out for just 137. Essex eased home with 5.5 overs to spare, Mark Pettini top scoring with an unbeaten 48.
The win means Essex now have three wins and a no result from their opening four matches in the group stage.
Phillips added: "As a club, and personally, I had a bit of a slow start. But the last three weeks we've really turned it round and pulled together.
"We've had some really promising results, three wins out of the first four, we are going nicely in this competition."
