Godleman has made one half-century for Middlesex in the Pro40 this season |
Essex have signed Middlesex opener Billy Godleman on a three-year deal. Godleman signed last week, initially on loan until the end of the season, but he has now committed himself to a permanent deal. The 20-year-old left-hander averages 32 in first-class cricket and 24 in the one-day game and has represented England at under-19 level. "I am keen to get into the side and make some winning contributions with the bat," he told the club website. "I know most of the players from my time with Middlesex and have been made to feel very welcome," he added. Godleman was part of the Essex's 13-man squad to face Worcestershire in Sunday's Pro40 encounter, but did not make the starting line-up.
