Grayson was pleased by the way his side bounced back from their FPT woes |
Coach Paul Grayson thinks Essex can take positives from their washed-out Twenty20 Cup opener with Kent. The Eagles looked set for victory before a thunderstorm denied them with just 10 more balls needed for a result. "We were excellent when we batted, Mark Pettini was in really good form and Alastair Cook showed he can play one-day cricket," Grayson told BBC Essex. "Then those three overs we bowled were good as well, so I was disappointed because I think we would have won." Grayson was also pleased with the way his side had responded to the disappointment of exiting the Friends Provident Trophy against Lancashire. "We were disappointed we lost on Saturday in the FPT but one thing about these players is they do bounce back well," he said. Grayson also expects England players Cook and Ravi Bopara to be available for selection for their next two Twenty20 fixtures against Sussex and Surrey.
