Veteran paceman Darren Gough says Essex have had a problem in capturing overseas pros in recent years. Gough told BBC Sport: "It's crucial we do get promoted next season but we seem to struggle to get a good second overseas player each season.
"We have signed Andre Adams but we need another specialist bowler and Andre Nel and Danish Kaneria will both have commitments during the summer.
"We tried to get Jason Gillespie but we didn't get him - he went to Yorkshire."
