Harmison hopes to play in the FP Trophy final at Lord's on 18 August |
Steve Harmison made a low-key return to first-class action with four overs for Durham against Sri Lanka A on the first day of the tour match at the Riverside. Three weeks after hernia surgery, the 28-year-old skippered Durham in the field after Sri Lanka chose to bat.
Harmison waited until the final session to bring himself into the attack.
He bowled three overs for 21 but ousted top-scorer Thilan Samaraweera and then bowled a maiden as the tourists were dismissed for 379.
Harmison intends to step up his recovery gradually, and has another four-day match at the Riverside beginning on Monday against Surrey.
His intention is to be fully match-fit to take part in Durham's showpiece FP Trophy final against Hampshire at Lord's on 18 August.
