The Australian, who has been with Derbshire since 2000 as one of their overseas players, is unhappy he has been kept in the dark.

He told the Derby Evening Telegraph: "I've still not officially been told but I've known for two months there would not be an offer coming."

Di Venuto is Derbyshire's leading run-scorer this season.

But with counties only allowing one overseas player from the start of the 2008 season, the club are set to go for younger home-grown talent.

The 32-year-old confirmed he has had interest from other counties but has not yet decided whether he wants to play in England next season.
