Derbyshire eye end to sun glare
Derbyshire have asked permission to bowl all the overs at one end at their ground to try and prevent the possibility of sun stopping play.

Play was suspended in a day/night clash at the county ground earlier this year when the setting sun shone straight into the eyes of the batsmen.

"With your biggest crowds you don't want to explain why you're not playing on a lovely night," a spokesman said.

The matter has been referred to the ECB with a decision set for Wednesday.

But Derbyshire kick off their Twenty20 campaign against Lancashire on Tuesday.

If there are hold-ups in the proceedings at Derby, the likelihood is the number of overs would be reduced, leaving an exceptionally short contest.

"It seems a simple solution to a potential problem. As long as the boundaries are the same and the opposition are in agreement we can't see a problem with it," chief executive Tom Sears said.
