Derbyshire make nickname switch
Mo Sheikh in action for Derbyshire
As the Scorpions, Derbyshire never got out of Division Two
Derbyshire are to rename their one-day team the Phantoms in 2005.

The club, known as the Scorpions since county sides took nicknames five years ago, made the change after running a competition with radio station Ram FM.

It reflects the fact that, according to the club, Derby is the most haunted city in England, and also the city's links with Rolls Royce.

"We wanted a name that has some direct relationship to Derbyshire and its proud history," said a club statement.

The Phantoms will hope to improve Derbyshire's recent one-day fortunes

As the Scorpions they never finished higher than fourth in the one-day league and were second-from-bottom in 2004.
