Hunter played three seasons at Durham |
Derbyshire have signed former Durham bowler Ian Hunter on a two-year contract from next season. The seamer played in 21 first-class matches for his home county, taking 45 wickets at an average of 42, before his release last year.
Coach David Houghton spotted the 24-year-old playing for Cumberland.
"He has the ability to bowl quickly and get the ball in the right areas consistently and that is good enough for me," said Houghton.
Hunter said: "I am delighted to be joining Derbyshire, and excited at the prospect of working with such a renowned coach as David."
Left-handed batsman Ben France has also been signed until the end of 2006 after impressing for Suffolk and in the Derbyshire 2nd XI.
