Rain caused the second day of the County Championship match between Gloucestershire and Surrey to be abandoned without a ball being bowled. Overnight and morning wet weather ensured a delayed start before the umpires decided no play would be possible at around 1350 BST. Rain meant only 27 overs were possible on the first day of the match. In that time Surrey recovered from 45-3 to close on 112-3, with England batsman Kevin Pietersen unbeaten on 40.
