Darren Maddy used all his experience to hit 74 and lead Warwickshire to a four-wicket CB 40 win over Scotland.

Chasing 268 to win, Neil Carter blasted three sixes in his 63-ball 81 to get the Bears off to a flier.

His dismissal sparked a flurry of 4-31, but Maddy and Rikki Clarke (49 not out) held their nerve with a stand of 111 as their side got home with 18 balls left.

George Bailey (123no off 90 balls) and Richie Berrington (82) had earlier put on 198 as Scotland racked up 267-4.

That record-breaking fourth-wicket stand - Scotland's highest in competitive meetings with English counties - represented a tremendous recovery by the Scots, who had seen Keith Barker reduce them to 69-3 on the way to career-best figures of 4-33.

But in holding their nerve and completing the double over Scotland, Group C leaders Warwickshire know their fate in the competition is in their own hands, with a win over second-placed Nottinghamshire in their final group game on Saturday guaranteeing a place in the semi-finals.
