Northants proved too strong for the Netherlands, winning by 32 runs on the Duckworth Lewis method in Rotterdam.

Alex Wakely (35), David Sales (28) and Nicky Boje (24 no) top-scored as the Midlanders reached 150-5 from 27 overs.

All-rounder Elton Chigumbura then took two quick wickets to reduce the Netherlands to 8-2.

Baz Zuiderent (35) gave the home team hope, but after his dismissal by Andrew Hall the Netherlands subsided to 106-9 in 22 overs.

Mal Loye and Rob Newton put on 36 for Northants' first wicket before Bernard Loots removed them both, and Wakely then added 59 for the third wicket with Sales.

With both partnerships interrupted by rain stoppages, late runs were needed and Boje provided them.

Chigumbura removed both Holland's openers in the second over of their reply, and by the time the weather struck again the hosts were 69 for five.

Zuiderent straddled the stoppage but when he was the sixth wicket to fall, Holland had nothing left to offer. Chigumbura, Hall and Lee Daggett each took the two wickets, the latter for the cost of just 11 runs in four overs.
