James Franklin hit Gloucestershire's second century of the match to bat his side into complete control of their game with Worcestershire at Cheltenham.

Beginning day two unbeaten on 50, the New Zealander finally fell for 108 as the hosts were bowled out for 480.

Worcestershire reached 126-2 by stumps, 204 short of avoiding the follow-on, with Daryl Mitchell unbeaten on 50.

Gloucestershire's Gemaal Hussain took his 50th first-class wicket this summer when David Wheeldon was caught at slip.

He is the third bowler to reach the milestone this season, after Middlesex and England paceman Steve Finn and Yorkshire leg-spinner Adil Rashid, and has taken his wickets at an average of less than 22.

Hussain had earlier seen his side miss out on maximum batting points by just a single run despite the best efforts of Franklin, who finally reached three figures thanks to a mis-field by Alan Richardson after being out three times in the 90s this season.

His luck evened itself out, though, when he was run out when Moeen Ali diverted Chris Dent's drive on to the stumps.

After Gloucestershire had lost their last five wickets for 45 runs, Worcestershire's reply began positively until Wheeldon was caught by Will Porterfield after getting an inside edge on to his pad.

Vikram Solanki was trapped leg before by Anthony Ireland soon after but Mitchell and Moeen (36 not out) saw Worcestershire through to the close without further alarm.
