Malinga Bandara spins Kent to win over Leicestershire
CLYDESDALE BANK 40 - GROUP C, Canterbury: Kent 150-2 (26.1 ovs) beat Leicestershire 148 (30.1 ovs) by eight wickets Match scorecard
Bandara was playing his first CB 40 game for Kent
Sri Lankan leg-spinner Malinga Bandara took 5-35 as Kent kept their slim hopes of CB 40 progress alive with an eight-wicket win over Leicestershire.
Bandara took four of the first five wickets to fall as the Foxes slumped from 42-0 to 148 all out.
Martin van Jaarsveld also chipped in with 3-23 as Leicestershire took up just 30.1 of their 40 overs.
Kent raced to their target with 13.5 overs to spare, Van Jaarsveld top scoring with an unbeaten 56.
With Kent's nearest rivals Durham and Hampshire playing each other, victory ensured Rob Key's side move up a place in Group C to fourth, while Leicestershire remain second from bottom with no chance of qualifying.
Kent's Martin van Jaarsveld told BBC Radio Kent: "When I first saw the wicket, you could tell it was going to take some spin, and I'm always happy when the skipper chucks me the ball.
"Leicestershire just lost their way a little bit, I thought they coped with the new ball really well, but the game turned when we gave the ball to Malinga Bandara and James Tredwell.
"Rob Key and Joe Denly got us off to a really good start, when I got in it was just a case of pushing the ball around and not taking any risks.
"Batting's been a bit of a struggle for me up until the last month, but finally I'm coming into some decent form."
