David Sales hit 84 to propel Northants to a 49-run Clydesdale Bank 40 win over Middlesex at Lord's.

Mal Loye (66), Rob Newton (41) and Stephen Peters (40) also weighed in to help Northants run up 264-5 after they were asked to bat.

James Middlebrook then picked up 3-41 as Middlesex were bowled out for 215 in the final over.

Northants climb off the bottom of Group B, moving above the Netherlands, while Middlesex stay in fourth.
