Zander de Bruyn and Marcus Trescothick scored 89 and 69 respectively to set up Somerset's 94-run win over Surrey at The Oval in the Clydesdale Bank 40. James Hildreth also added 68 as the visitors racked up an impressive 303-5. The home side lost early wickets in their reply, leaving Mark Ramprakash (42) and Matthew Spriegel (53) to take up the chase. But when Rampraskash fell to Murali Kartik (3-40), Surrey lost four wickets for 38 runs and slipped to 209 all out. After Somerset won the toss, England opener Craig Kieswetter was forced to play second fiddle as Trescothick plundered 12 fours in his 47-ball effort. When they and Nick Compton fell, De Bruyn and Hildreth combined for a stand of 145 in 19 overs - a Somerset record for the fourth wicket in one-day cricket against Surrey. Surrey looked to be in contention when Ramprakash and Spriegel were together, but their hopes were extinguished when Ramprakash was caught at long-on and Stewart Walters was caught behind off the next ball.
