Carter followed up his century by taking 2-56 with the ball |
Neil Carter struck a century to carry Warwickshire to a 25-run win over Leicestershire in the Clydesdale Bank 40 at Grace Road. Carter struck 17 fours in his 93-ball 101 before falling to James Taylor. He shared a fourth-wicket stand of 112 with Ian Westwood (47) as Warwickshire racked up 272-8 from their 40 overs. Taylor then struck an unbeaten century of his own, reaching 103 from 95 balls, but Leicestershire never threatened and eventually fell short on 247-6. The 20-year-old reached his hundred by pulling the last ball of the match, sent down by Carter, for four. Taylor (4-61) had earlier claimed career-best figures with his occasional leg-spin but could not prevent the Bears from scoring 56 runs in the final five overs of their innings. This would prove to be the difference as Warwickshire strengthened their position at the top of Group C.
