Neil McKenzie reverse sweeps as Sussex wicketkeeper Matt Prior looks on
Hampshire squeezed through to the quarter-finals of the FP t20 with a 45-run win over Sussex at The Rose Bowl.
With the hosts needing to win to progress, Neil McKenzie hit an unbeaten 67 in their 195-5.
Dominic Cork and Chris Wood then each picked up two wickets as Sussex were shot out for 150 in 19 overs.
The win keeps Hampshire ahead of Surrey and Middlesex on run rate and sees them meet Warwickshire in the last eight, while Sussex travel to Nottinghamshire.
After winning the toss, Hampshire slipped to 24-2 before McKenzie joined Jimmy Adams (30) for a third-wicket stand of 44.
When Adams fell, McKenzie anchored the rest of the innings as Michael Carberry (36) and Sean Ervine (32) upped the tempo and took the hosts to would would prove to be a winning score.
England pair Luke Wright and Matt Prior put on 34 for the first wicket, but when Wood removed Wright it sparked a collapse that saw Sussex lose four wickets for 24 runs.
Chris Nash (32) and Dwayne Smith (28) launched a counter attack, but Cork accounted for both men as Hampshire squeezed the life out of the game.
