Andrew Gale hit a half-century as Yorkshire ended their FP t20 campaign with a six-wicket win over Derbyshire. Gale hit 55 and Gary Ballance made 48 not out in only his third Twenty20 match, as Yorkshire reached their target of 138 with four balls to spare. Earlier, Lee Hodgson and Richard Pyrah took two wickets each as Derbyshire were restricted to 137-7. Derbyshire's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals had already been ended by Northants' win over Durham. Derbyshire, who were without injured South African batsman Loots Bosman, struggled on a slow pitch, with Wes Durston's 39 from 35 balls their top score. | 606: DEBATE |
Derbyshire had brief hope when Yorkshire slipped to 33-2, but Gale and Ballance put on 85 in 13 overs to swing the balance. The visitors wobbled as they approached the finishing line losing Gale and Jonathan Bairstow in quick succession. But Clint McKay hit the winning runs, lifting Tim Groenewald for six over deep square leg.
