FRIENDS PROVIDENT t20, Old Trafford: Lancashire 83-1 (8.2 ovs) beat Nottinghamshire 138-7 by nine wickets (D/L) Match scorecard Lancashire batsman Stephen Moore hits down the ground for six during his side's rain-affected FP t20 win over Nottinghamshire
Lancashire booked their place in the quarter-finals of the FP t20 with a rain-affected nine-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire at Old Trafford. Alex Hales hit 83 from 61 balls but could not prevent Notts stuttering their way to 138-7 from their 20 overs. A rain delay between innings saw the home side's target revised to 81 from 10 overs on the Duckworth/Lewis method. And Stephen Moore made light work of the task, crashing an unbeaten 51 as Lancashire got home with 10 balls left. It is the fourth year running that Lancashire have reached the last eight of the domestic Twenty20 competition, and in doing so they gained revenge for a comprehensive defeat at Trent Bridge. | 606: DEBATE |
Gary Keedy, playing his first game of the season after breaking his right collarbone in pre-season, Nathan McCullum and Tom Smith all took two wickets each as Notts, Hales apart, struggled with the bat. Indeed, Chris Read was the only other batsman to reach double figures, while Steven Mullaney was the only other member of his side to hit a boundary. Lancashire would have already fancied their chances of chasing down their target, and their prospects were only enhanced by the weather. Moore and Smith shared 43 for the first wicket inside five overs, before Moore, who brought up his half-century off 23 balls, and Steven Croft saw them home.
