FRIENDS PROVIDENT t20, Bristol: Gloucestershire 154-2 beat Glamorgan 153-7 by eight wickets Match scorecard
Ireland captain Porterfield hit his first half century in this year's Twenty20 |
Will Porterfield smashed 65 in just 27 balls as Gloucestershire beat Glamorgan by eight wickets at Bristol with four-and-a-half overs to spare. Jamie Dalrymple (38), Tom Maynard (36) and Mark Wallace (34) all chipped in as Glamorgan posted 153-7, Steve Kirby taking 3-17 from his four overs. But Porterfield soon made short work of it, hitting four sixes and eight fours. Backed by Aaron Redmond (33), Ireland's captain helped Gloucestershire to win with ease on 154-2 in the 16th over. Porterfield took 26 off one over from Chris Ashling as he smashed his best Twenty20 score.
Glamorgan captain Jamie Dalrymple said: "I don't think 150 was a million miles away on that wicket, I don't know if the pitch changed character. "It's a painful learning curve for us. "There have been bits that we've done that have been good but we've struggled to knit batting and bowling in the same match and to build momentum. "We've found it hard to build genuine momentum in one-day cricket. "Losing Shaun Tait was obviously disappointing, you saw the effect he had on our first three Twenty20 games."
