Somerset celebrate success against Glamorgan
Somerset's fourth successive win helps them to third in the South Group

A second-wicket stand of 83 between Nick Compton and James Hildreth helped Somerset beat Glamorgan and secure a fourth consecutive FP t20 win.

Despite Mark Cosgrove's impressive 75 off 54 balls, Glamorgan were restricted to 138 all out as Alfonso Thomas and Murali Kartik both took three wickets.

Hildreth (43) and Compton (40) then ensured Somerset recovered from the early loss of Marcus Trescothick.

Zander de Bruyn (22no) wrapped up a six-wicket win with eight balls left.

Tom Maynard and captain Jamie Dalrymple were the only others to make double figures as Glamorgan struggled with the bat.

Thomas helped Somerset move up to third in the South Group with his sixth successive three-wicket haul.

But the crucial over proved to be Somerset's 15th at the crease with de Bruyn being dropped after Compton was stumped before, following a single, Kieron Pollard smashed three mighty sixes to put the hosts firmly in charge.

Somerset bowler Alfonso Thomas told BBC Somerset:

"I think we're getting a bit of momentum at the right time. Last year we thought we peaked a bit early.

"In Twenty20 cricket I think continuity is key. The guys now know who is doing what in the team and it's coming together quite nicely.

"It's a key game (Somerset's next match against Surrey) because if we can pull off a victory there we can then sort of pull away from the pack."

Glamorgan opener Mark Cosgrove:
"That was pretty disappointing, at 138 we were maybe 20 below par.

"We stuck in there but unfortunately came out on the wrong side.

"We came down here with big hopes after winning last week.

"There are back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday and we'll be looking for momentum.

"We're definitely looking to make the finals and think that we still can."
