FRIENDS PROVIDENT t20, New Road: Warwickshire 121-1 (16.2 ovs) beat Worcestershire 118-9 (20 ovs) by nine wickets Match scorecard
Trott is Warwickshire's highest scoring batsman in Twenty20 cricket
Jonathan Trott hit a rapid 72 not out as Warwickshire romped to a nine-wicket FP t20 victory over Worcestershire.
Chasing 119 to win, Trott, who hit ten fours, shared 100 for the second wicket with Darren Maddy (44 not out) as the Bears got home with 22 balls to spare.
The pair upstaged Sri Lanka legend Sanath Jayasuriya, who made only two on his Worcestershire debut as his new side slumped to 10-3.
Rookie Jack Manuel made a brave 31 but Worcestershire could only post 118-9.
Trott's half-century was his 11th for Warwickshire in Twenty20 cricket, with the Bears' fourth win in the competition lifting them to within a point of North Group leaders Nottinghamshire.
Worcestershire remain rooted to the bottom of the table, with just one win in six games.
It was a debut to forget for veteran Jayasuriya, who clipped his third ball to Chris Woakes at mid-wicket for an easy catch.
Worcestershire director of cricket Steve Rhodes told BBC Hereford and Worcester: "You have got to set the tone with both bat and ball and we didn't do that.
"After two overs we were three down for 10 runs and that's not setting the tone.
"We made some basic errors with the bat to get a score 40 runs light of what it should have been.
"It was similar with the ball, after two overs they were 20 for nought, so it's difficult when that happens."
