Nottinghamshire's winning run in this year's FP t20 came to an end against Warwickshire at Edgbaston despite skipper David Hussey's heroics.

Notts were in a spot of bother on 35-3 prior to Hussey transforming the innings with two sixes and eight fours in his unbeaten 81 off 42 balls.

But the Bears then successfully chased 176-6, winning with seven balls to spare thanks to Jonathan Trott's 46.

Warwickshire reached 178-5 to go second behind Notts in the North Group.

Notts had won their previous four games to go top, but they were undone by an aggressive 46 in 30 balls from Trott as the South African-born England Test player reminded the England selectors that he can also play Twenty20 cricket.

Trott had bagged a third ball duck in his first Twenty20 knock of the summer against Derbyshire last week, followed by another failure (4) against Durham.

But, having hit 42 in Sunday's rain-hit clash with Lancashire, he has now made runs in successive innings.

Trott, who made a double century in the first Test against Bangladesh last month, missed out on a place in the World Twenty20 squad and has also been omitted from England's squad for the forthcoming one-day internationals against Scotland and Australia.

Earlier, Hussey stole the show with his highest Twenty20 score in England, including two straight sixes, but constructed largely by scampering twos and singles with shots to the long Rea Bank boundary.

Chris Read, who has handed over the captaincy to Hussey for this competition, gave excellent support in a fifth wicket stand of 78 in nine overs.
