FRIENDS PROVIDENT t20, Trent Bridge: Nottinghamshire 157-7 (20 ovs) beat Lancashire 131 (18.5 ovs) by 26 runs Match scorecard
Samit Patel and Chris Read celebrate the wicket of Steven Croft
Samit Patel took three wickets in five balls to put Nottinghamshire on course for victory over Lancashire and a fourth straight FP t20 win.
Set 158 to win, Lancashire looked well placed at 50-1 in the seventh over.
But Patel (3-26) then took centre stage as Lancashire slumped to 57-4 before being bowled out for 131, despite Tom Smith's 43, to lose by 26 runs.
Earlier, Sajid Mahmood took a Twenty20-best 4-21 to limit Notts to 157-7, David Hussey top scoring with 44.
Alex Hales also made 35 and Ali Brown 29 in sharing 63 for the first wicket to get Notts off to a flier.
But while England paceman James Anderson went wicketless and conceded 39 runs from his four overs, Mahmood helped put the brakes on Notts, including taking three wickets in the final over.
Paul Horton (23) and Smith got Lancashire's reply off to a good start, only for Patel to turn the game in Notts' favour.
He trapped Simon Katich leg before with his third ball and bowled Stephen Moore with his next delivery before repeating the dose on Steven Croft with the first ball of his second over.
Smith and Nathan McCullum (26) helped get Lancashire back on course. But after Smith was spectacularly run out by Hussey and McCullum was caught on the boundary off Stuart Broad their challenge faded fast.
Broad sealed victory by having Stephen Parry caught at long-on to strengthen Notts' position at the top of the North Group and ensure that they and Sussex are the only two remaining unbeaten sides in the competition.
