No play was possible on the last day at Trent Bridge as Nottinghamshire's County Championship game with Essex was finally abandoned as a draw.

But Notts still go back top in Division One, having closed the two-point gap on leaders Yorkshire.

Notts picked up two more bonus points at Trent Bridge than Yorkshire managed in the Roses match at Headingley.

That was enough for Notts to lead the Championship again with most wins, four to Yorkshire's three.

But Notts still have two games in hand on Yorkshire, who have already completed half their eight-match championship programme going into the Twenty20 break.
