Scotland suffered their second CB40 defeat in 24 hours against Kent at Canterbury to all but end their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.

Youngster Alex Blake hit a career-best 81 not out as Kent piled up 249-7, backed by Azhar Mahmood's 44.

But, despite Tasmania skipper George Bailey top scoring for the second day running with 70, aided by Neil McCallum (45), Scotland fell short on 191-7.

Amjad Khan took 3-32 as Kent secured only their second win by 58 runs.

Blake went to the wicket with his side in a spot of bother on 108-4, a situation that quickly worsened when in-form Darren Stevens drove on the up against Ross Lyons to go for 24.

That brought together Blake, playing only his 13th List A game, and the experienced Mahmood for a sixth-wicket stand worth 102 in 24 overs that turned the course of the game.

Alex Blake told BBC Radio Kent:
"It's been a while since I've got a 50 so it was nice to spend some time at the crease.

"I've been told to play straight early on to get myself in then later I would be able to play a few cross-bat shots.

"I've finished my second year at university. If I'm in the twos [Kent second team] then I'll go back to Leeds to play for university but if I'm in the first team then I will stay down."
