LV COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO, Grace Road: CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY ONE: Leicestershire 23-2 v Middlesex Match scorecard
A mere 9.2 overs were bowled as rain badly disrupted the first day at Grace Road, but Leicestershire still found time to get themselves into trouble. Having been skittled for just 71 in their last match against Glamorgan, they made another disappointing start. Will Jefferson was run out for 0 in bizarre fashion by Neil Baxter at second slip in the first over. Iain O'Brien then removed veteran Paul Nixon (4) before play was halted for the day with Leicestershire on 23-2. Jefferson's dismissal in particular would have been the subject of discussion in the home dressing room. Pushing forward to a Tim Murtagh delivery the ball rapped him on the pads and went through to Baxter. But Jefferson remained out of his crease and Baxter threw down the stumps with a direct hit.
