Rain ruined the opening day of the first Roses match of the season at Headingley as play was called off without a ball being bowled.

Play was finally abandoned before the day just before the scheduled tea interval (1530 BST).

Yorkshire went into the game with their old rivals as Championship leaders.

The Tykes' draw against Hampshire took them two points ahead of Notts who admittedly have two games in hand, nine clear of third-placed Lancashire.
