Mal Loye ton puts Northants in command against Surrey

Mal Loye's first century since returning to Northants provided the cornerstone of their commanding first-day score of 330-5 against Surrey.

Loye (121 not out) struck 15 fours and a six and shared an unbroken stand of 161 with Nicky Boje (77 not out).

Earlier, Stephen Peters (61) and Niall O'Brien (44) added 90 for the first wicket, but when they both fell to Tim Linley, Northants slipped to 169-5.

However, Loye and Boje were to dominate the rest of the day.
