CLYDESDALE BANK 40, The Grange: Nottinghamshire 256-6 beat Scotland 213 by 43 runs Match scorecard
Spinner White followed Graeme Swann from Northants to Notts in October |
Nottinghamshire spinner Graeme White took a career-best 5-35 to see his side to a 43-run Clydesdale Bank 40 win over Scotland in Edinburgh. Scotland always faced a daunting task chasing a Notts total of 256-6 inspired by Alex Hales (69), Samit Patel (61) and the recalled Matthew Wood (60). Scotland's Richie Berrington (54) hit his second half century of the weekend. But, having been well beaten by Kent the day before, the Scots went down again, being bowled out for 213. Scotland at least performed with more spirit than they had shown in Saturday's nine-wicket home thrashing by Kent. They were keeping pace with the run rate until slow left-arm spinner White put the brakes on. Notts' 250-plus total was down to a real team effort with the bat but Hales was the star with nine fours and a six in his 51-ball innings. Notts' win moves them to within three points of leaders Warwickshire in Group C, following the previously unbeaten Bears' surprise slip-up to Hampshire on Saturday.
