Surrey thrashed Lancashire by eight wickets at Old Trafford to maintain second spot in Group A of the CB 40.

Batting first on a fast, bouncy pitch, the hosts slipped to 39-5 before Mark Chilton (68) and Luke Sutton (47 not out) added 108 to lead the recovery.

When Chilton fell, the hosts lost five wickets for 18 runs to be 165 all out.

Openers Steven Davies (82 not out) and Rory Hamilton-Brown (65) then shared an opening stand of 113 as Surrey got home with 16.1 overs to spare.

Surrey have now won three of their four CB 40 games, while Lancashire have lost four of their six fixtures.
