The Netherlands were denied the chance to pull off a repeat of last year's famous ICC World Twenty 20 victory at Lord's by the St John's Wood weather.

It looked like the Dutch might have been chasing a big score this time, Middlesex having run up 185-4 from 32.3 overs when the rain came.

England batsman Owais Shah looked well set on 74, from 89 balls, including two sixes and six fours.

Gareth Berg also hit a half century, his 53 coming off only 42 balls.

The game had already been reduced to 33 overs a side after an earlier shower.

But, when the rain returned for a second time, Shah's elegant innings proved to be one for the statisticians only.
