CLYDESDALE BANK 40, Headingley: Yorkshire 204-6 beat Netherlands 200-8 by four wickets Yorkshire 2pts Match scorecard
Rudolph has already passed 50 three times in the Clydesdale Bank 40 |
Jacques Rudolph used all his experience to guide Yorkshire to a hard-fought four-wicket Clydesdale Bank 40 win over the Netherlands at Headingley. Set 201 to win, the former South Africa Test batsman carried his bat for an unbeaten 83 as the hosts got home on 204-6 with three balls to spare. Earlier, Michael Dighton hit 62 and Mudassar Bukhari 49 off 40 balls as the Netherlands made 200-8. Group B leaders Yorkshire have now won all four of their games. And they now have a three-point cushion at the top of the group, having played the same number of games as second-placed Essex. It was the Netherlands' first game in the competition after they asked for a late start in case they qualified for the ICC World Twenty20. They certainly made a contest of it after Bukhari's late hitting gave them a target to defend, despite Tino Best and Steven Patterson both taking three wickets. It seemed plain sailing for Yorkshire after Rudolph and Gale put on 81 in 20 overs for the first wicket and again later at 174-4. But even after three quick wickets fell, Rudolph kept his head to see his side over the finishing line.
