CLYDESDALE BANK 40, Cardiff: Glamorgan 259-5 beat Worcestershire 256-6 by five wickets (Glamorgan 2 pts) Match scorecard
Glamorgan can kick on - Rees
Phil Jaques' return to form proved in vain as Worcestershire lost to Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens by five wickets with 10 balls to spare.
Jaques hit 110, putting on 111 for the first wicket with Vikram Solanki (55) as the visitors piled up 256-6.
But opener Mark Cosgrove got the home side off to a great start with 86.
And Gareth Rees (51no) and David Brown (31no) kept their heads at the death, seeing their side to a first win with an unbroken sixth-wicket stand of 73.
Worcestershire have now lost their first three games in the Clydesdale Bank 40 to sit bottom of Group A, having been leapfrogged by their hosts.
Having started the season with a one-point penalty, as punishment for a poor pitch last season, Glamorgan are now into plus figures.
Worcestershire opening batsman Phil Jacques told BBC Hereford and Worcester:
"There was a little bit in it early on that was for sure and we had to try and set the platform.
"It was a lot slower than what we would normally try and be in a 40-over game I guess.
"But we ended up with a competitive score of 250-odd and that makes it even more disappointing to lose."
