Rain finally ended Nottinghamshire's first day/night game of the season against Kent at a gloomy Trent Bridge.

After a day of steady rain, it was a surprise when they got underway at all (1800 BST). But even the brave, belated attempt to play a 10-over match failed.

Kent had smashed their way to 78-2 from just 37 balls when the rain came down to end any hope of a positive result.

But visiting skipper Rob Key enjoyed a little cameo, hitting five fours and three sixes in his 44 off 18 balls.

Kent still remain without a win in the Clydesdale Bank 40 after four Group C games.
