Derbyshire got their Clydesdale Bank 40 campaign up and running with a five-wicket victory over Northants under the Wantage Road floodlights. Chasing 231 to win, Robin Peterson made 51 as all of the Derbyshire batting fired to get home on 234-5 with eight balls left. Niall O'Brien, back from ICC World Twenty 20 duty with Ireland, top scored with 52 as Northants posted 230-6. Northants have now lost all three of their games so far in the competition. But it was a first victory at the third attempt for Derbyshire, who had lost their previous two games to Gloucestershire and Essex.
