White managed to keep their feint hopes alive, but when became the first of three men to succumb in Pyrah's third over, Northants' fate was sealed. Earlier, Rudolph and Andrew Gale (35) plundered 39 from the first five overs of the game before the rain shortened the game for the first time. When Gale fell to David Lucas (1-53), Rudolph combined with Adam Lyth (24) and McGrath in stands of 54 and 95 to give Yorkshire too many runs for the visitors to chase.
