CLYDESDALE BANK 40, Lord's: Middlesex v Essex - match abandoned because of rain Middlesex 1pt, Essex 1pt
Middlesex's Clydesdale Bank 40 game with Essex at Lord's was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Although the morning rain had stopped and the outfield was in good condition, the wicket had got damp and was deemed to be unplayable. The abandonment denied New Zealand paceman Chris Martin the chance to make his Essex debut. The 35-year-old is now set to make his bow in Monday's match with Derbyshire at Leek.
