Warwickshire's England batsmen Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell and Jim Troughton all hit half-centuries in the Bears' six-wicket win over injury-hit Kent.

Chasing Kent's 246-6, the Bears romped home with 13 balls to spare on 247-4.

Bell hit an excellent 88, backed by a workmanlike 54 by Test team-mate Trott and an unbeaten 56 in 51 balls from former one-day international Troughton.

Earlier, Joe Denly top scored with 80 for Kent, backed by Martin Van Jaarsveld (58) and Darren Stevens (55).

Trott and Bell, in particular, made the most of a short boundary on the lime tree side of the St Lawrence Ground by posting 126 for the second wicket.

Former Worcestershire and Scotland seamer Dewald Nel suffered a dreadful home debut, disappearing to all parts.

The slightly-built right-arm bowler conceded 32, all of them in boundaries, from his opening three overs from the Nackington Road. He came back at the Pavilion End for a further stint after minor injuries to Mahmood and Simon Cook, but still proved expensive - his 7.5 overs costing 70 runs as he he went for 13 fours.

Trott appeared content to play second fiddle to Bell, who silenced the home support by lofting extravagant sixes over extra cover and into the top tier of the Annexe, where the ball struck a cameraman.
