LV= COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP, DIVISION ONE, Edgbaston: CLOSE OF PLAY, DAY THREE: Warwickshire 217 & 347 v Yorkshire 274 & 54-1 Yorkshire 5 pts, Warwicks 4 pts Match scorecard
Jonathan Trott has made 486 runs in seven Test appearances for England |
Warwickshire's three England batsmen all made half centuries at Edgbaston as the Bears set Yorkshire an interesting final day challenge. Jonathan Trott (88) top scored, while fellow current Test player Ian Bell finished on 54 and ex-England one-day man Jim Troughton weighed in with 78. The Bears, 57 behind on first innings, made 347, setting Yorkshire 291 to win. And the Tykes reached the close on 57-1, losing Joe Sayers, with fellow opener Adam Lyth well set on 34.
Warwickshire coach Ashley Giles told BBC Sport: "Imran Tahir has added to us already and with the bat in the second innings I thought we played ourselves in really well on a wicket which is offering something. "Trott made 88 and looked to be playing very well. Bell, Troughton, Rudolph and Sayers have made fifties but there's always something in it for the seamers. "The message that's coming back from the batsmen is that you're always a little unsure. You're never quite in. "We just need to open a door in the morning quite early and if we do that, particularly with a leg-spinner in the side things can happen very quickly."
