Rain and bad light prevented any play on the second day of the County Championship match between Hampshire and Sussex at The Rose Bowl.

Steady rain before the start of play and again throughout the morning left pools of water on the outfield.

Umpires Barry Dudleston and George Sharp made several inspections before deciding no play was possible.

Hampshire will resume on day three on 341-8, a total built on 109 from Sean Ervine and Nic Pothas' 74.
