New Glamorgan skipper Jamie Dalrymple batted throughout most of the day at Lord's to save his side from possible defeat by his former club Middlesex.

Resuming on the final morning on 94-4, Dalrymple hit an unbeaten 112 to help his side declare on 278-8.

That left Middlesex needing an unlikely 370 to win and they not surprisingly made little attempt to get the runs.

Aussie debutant Phillip Hughes finished unbeaten on 65 out of Middlesex's 94-3 before a premature halt after tea.
