Ten Doeschate now has eight wickets in all competitions this season

Essex paceman Ryan ten Doeschate took five wickets as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 155 on day one of their Division Two clash at Bristol.

Hamish Marshall made 64 but the rest of the Gloucestershire batting order struggled, James Franklin recording a second-top score of just 21.

David Masters (3-16) and Christopher Wright (2-38) took the other wickets.

Essex closed the day on 60-3 in reply with Varun Chopra, Jason Gallian and Matt Walker all trapped leg before.
